For the fifth consecutive year, the Saudi Center for Opinion Polling (SCOP) has conducted a comprehensive study among 1,266 Saudi citizens (aged 18 and above) to evaluate their usage patterns and preferences regarding social media platforms.

Core Objectives:

  • To assess the awareness and usage levels of various social media applications.
  • To identify the most preferred social media platforms among users.
  • To analyze gender-based differences in social media usage and preferences.

Key Findings:

After years of steady growth, the results reveal a notable shift in the behavior of Saudi social media platform users. Over the past two years, most platforms have begun recording a reverse trend, marked by declining usage rates to varying degrees. This decline is most pronounced on YouTube, followed by Telegram and platform X, while platforms such as WhatsApp and Snapchat have maintained high usage levels despite their relative decrease.

These findings suggest that users have become more selective in the time they spend on digital platforms, and that the phase of continuous growth in usage has begun to lose momentum. As a result, the challenge facing platforms is no longer limited to attracting new users, but has become more closely tied to retaining existing users and strengthening the reasons for their continued engagement and interaction.
